School trip

Today I went on a school trip with my Engineering class to the Jaguar/ Land Rover factory in Liverpool. Inside we saw all the machines making parts and constructing the Land Rover cars. The machines are much like the ones on the Citroen Picasso advert . It was an amazing trip and will make me look at cars a whole lot differently from now on!!
I thought I would show you the card I made for my mum for mothers day, I decided to put my beads on something different, other than wire so I stitched on to some card.
This is an indoor plant I bought my mum for her room at work to brighten it up!!

Inspiring words!!

Yiota at Shells and Bells, Flowers and showers brought inspiring words week to my attention and I have got some to share!! :)

"Books are the carriers of civilisation. Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill." Brian Tracy.

I think this is brilliant and completely true, if we did not have books to record vital knowledge and stories etc, no one would know about them, and the world would turn into an ignorant place!!

I think this one is really fun: "We are like teas bags - we don't know our own strength until we're in hot water" Sister Busche

This poem from Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream inspires me to think warm sunny thoughts of Summer:

I know a bank whereon the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows;
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses, and with eglantine.

I don't always find Shakespeare easy to understand, but I really like his flowing poetry!

Now I am even more inspired to read more books and to enjoy the summer holidays outside!

Birthday Books!

Thank you everyone for your Birthday wishes!! These are the three books that I got from Leeds last Saturday. I have lots of interesting reading to look forward too!!
My Granddad Higham would have been 90 years old today!! I haven't met any of my Grandparents but I like to think that I got my Engineering interests from my Granddad because he was an Engineer and was in the RAF in the Second World War.
(The picture above is my Granddad and Grandma Higham in the 1940's)
